Disney Princess

I know it sounds childish to like Disney's Princess at my age right now,but I do like all their cartoon movies and I do have all the collections when I was still a young girl, but I do not have the dolls because Im quite scared of the dolls and I don't have them when I was kid.Disney Princess is a Walt Disney Company franchise, based on fictional characters who have been featured as part of the Disney character line-up. The main six are: Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, and Jasmine, all of whom have royal title by marriage or birth. Recently, Mulan and Pocahontas have been included as princesses as well.In 2007, Disney announced that a new Princess would be added: Princess Tiana, from their 2009 animated feature The Princess and the Frog, will become the first black princess to join the ranks of Disney Princesses. The franchise has released dolls, sing-along videos, and a variety of other children's products, apparel, and even band-aids featuring the Disney Princesses. The princess that I really like the most is Belle because she's the most beautiful to compare to another 5 princesses, but the movie that I like the most will be Sleeping Beauty where the princess is Princess Aurora. It is very an interesting story.I really like the three fairy godmothers, they were so cute, and the colours of the costumes they wear characterise their personality. They had taken care of Princess Aurora since she was still a little baby.Until she became 16 years old,the evil witch had come and try to kill her.Thankfully, there were Prince and with the help of the fairy godmothers, she alive and live happily ever after.I really like the end of the story.

Learning of English in Malaysia

The English language has been widely spoken and used in Malaysia for many years, so much so that it has automatically become the second language of the country. Nearly every household in the city in Malaysia uses English, even if it is not the first language of the house. With the world becoming smaller due to globalisation, the importance of the English language, which has been dubbed the international trading language, is very much evident. In this Internet and Information Age, in order to achieve international stature, it is important to know the English language as English is the lingua franca of the Internet.

For this matter, more and more students (local and international) are equipping themselves with the English language by attending special English courses and programmes in Malaysia. Therefore, it is not surprising to note that this language is being offered by many of the higher educational institutions, not only as a programme by itself but also as a preparatory subject to gain entry into undergraduate programmes offered by the local institutions as well as overseas institutions.

My lovely classmates

Our first semester in Universiti Malaysia Pahang has almost come to an end. It's been 6 months and I think,we have known each other well.Projects and presentations that combine us together had made us really close to each other. For instance,we went to Temerloh for TITAS project and that makes us more closed being together.Recently,me and my 4 classmates have to work hard for the Technical English final project,we help each others to make it succesful and we really satisfied with our presentation.Laboratory assignments and experiments had made us work together as a team. All of us have different background with different lifestyle and we came from different states and it makes us different from each other. My classmates have their own characteristics which makes them really interesting. After few months being with them,I have known them quite well and some of them have their own interest and speciality and it makes them unic. For instance, there are some of them can play well in rugby, some of them can play music instruments, some of them are good in debate and lots more.Since the day I knew them, they had help me with lots of things, not just in class, but they also help me with the things outside of the class. Its really makes me felt so grateful to have them as my classmates, they even accompany me for shoppnig and lend their ears when I have problems.Sometimes,if I have lots of work to be done, they kindly accompany me to do my work.Lastly,I'm just so glad and thankful to have them as my classmates.

Tips to have a good sleep at night

Sleeping less is not good for health, but as a university students,we couldn't avoid from sleeping late at night, and sleeping for 3 to 5 hours at night have been our routine of life in university. When it become our routine,we might have problem in sleeping for instance insomnia. This disease also happen to older people, some of them can't sleep because of the pain they have to get through as an old people.Research had been done by scientist that the maximal sleep capacity of both young and older persons, arranged for groups of younger adults (ages 18 to 32 years) and older adults (ages 60 to 76 years) to lie in bed for 12 hours during the night and for another 4 hours in the afternoon. The normal sleep pattern are 7 to 9 hours daily.Make sure that you are following the kinds of routines and behaviors that will give you the best chance of getting as much refreshing sleep as possible. Here are some examples of good sleep hygiene.Make sure that you're going to bed early enough to allow yourself to get an adequate night's sleep.
As your bedtime approaches, develop a relaxing routine in the evening — don't keep busy until the moment before you expect to fall asleep.
Avoid watching TV in bed.
Sleep in a cool, relatively dark room.
Consider going to sleep to the sound of white noise, either from a bedside fan or a machine that generates calming sounds.
Increase your exercising, but don't do it so near to bedtime that it gets your adrenaline flowing and keeps you awake.
Limit your daily intake of caffeinated beverages and avoid them completely after lunchtime.
So,we should have enough good sleep, especially as a student,we have to learn lots of things in class. It is good to have enough sleep at night so that we have the energy to learn.

Sleeping Less: What to Do About It

Post a Comment Generally, it has been assumed that the need for sleep does not decrease with age, but rather that other factors gradually come to interfere with our ability to sleep through the night.

Older individuals, for instance, are at greater risk not only for developing medical and psychiatric disorders but also for taking medications that can disrupt sleep. In spite of these influences, however, it may be that an actual biological deterioration of the sleep drive might also be playing a role.

A new study published in the journal Current Biology has been able to shed some light on this puzzle of sleep and aging. The researchers, who wanted to determine the maximal sleep capacity of both young and older persons, arranged for groups of younger adults (ages 18 to 32 years) and older adults (ages 60 to 76 years) to lie in bed for 12 hours during the night and for another 4 hours in the afternoon.

The subjects tended to sleep significantly longer at the beginning of the experiment, presumably because they were making up for a sleep debt accrued during their usual daily sleep routines. When the sleep patterns stabilized, however, the younger adults were capable of sleeping for much longer times — an average of 8.9 hours daily — than were the elderly people, who got only 7.4 hours daily. This 1.5-hour difference in maximal sleep capacity is impressive.

If your biological drive for sleep seems to have decreased, make sure that you are following the kinds of routines and behaviors that will give you the best chance of getting as much refreshing sleep as possible. Here are some examples of good sleep hygiene:

Make sure that you're going to bed early enough to allow yourself to get an adequate night's sleep.
As your bedtime approaches, develop a relaxing routine in the evening — don't keep busy until the moment before you expect to fall asleep.
Avoid watching TV in bed.

Increase your exercising, but don't do it so near to bedtime that it gets your adrenaline flowing and keeps you awake.
Limit your daily intake of caffeinated beverages and avoid them completely after lunchtime.
Avoid alcoholic beverages

Hmm!! luv chocolate!

Chocolate has always been my favourite food.It sounds unhealthy, but actually it has lots of benefits for your body.It can lower blood pressure.[2] Dark chocolate has recently been promoted for its health benefits, as it seems to create amount of antioxidants that reduce the formation of free radicals.
We usually heard that chocolate came from the country of love, which is France, but the real fact is that it was not actually from France,it was started from South American. The pure chocolate is made from cocoa. The chocolate at the market is not pure chocolate,it has already combine with sugar.Milk chocolate is sweet chocolate that additionally contains milk powder or condensed milk. "White chocolate" contains cocoa butter, sugar, and milk but no cocoa solids.Chocolate has been used as a gift on Valentine's day,Christmas, Easter and much more.Dark chocolate has also been said to reduce the possibility of a heart attack when consumed regularly in small amounts.Scientist had done some research about how chocolate can release your tension and improve your ability to improve.Last but no least,as the conclusion, there are lots of advantages of chocolate, but to much might lead to badness such as diabetes. So,we have to balance to get a healthy body

chocolate

Chocolate (pronounced /ˈtʃɒklət/ (help·info) or /-ˈələt/) comprises a number of raw and processed foods that are produced from the seed of the tropical cacao tree. Native to lowland, tropical South America, cacao has been cultivated for at least three millennia in Central America and Mexico, with its earliest documented use around 1100 BC. Pure, unsweetened chocolate contains primarily cocoa solids and cocoa butter in varying proportions. Much of the chocolate consumed today is in the form of sweet chocolate, combining chocolate with sugar. Milk chocolate is sweet chocolate that additionally contains milk powder or condensed milk. "White chocolate" contains cocoa butter, sugar, and milk but no cocoa solids (and thus does not qualify to be considered true chocolate). Chocolate contains alkaloids such as theobromine and phenethylamine, which have some physiological effects in humans, but the presence of theobromine renders it toxic to some animals, such as dogs and cats.[1]. It has been linked to serotonin levels in the brain. Scientists claim that chocolate, eaten in moderation, can lower blood pressure.[Dark chocolate has recently been promoted for its health benefits, as it seems to possess substantial amount of antioxidants that reduce the formation of free radicals.Chocolate has become one of the most popular flavors in the world. Gifts of chocolate molded into different shapes have become traditional on certain holidays: chocolate bunnies and eggs are popular on Easter, chocolate coins on Hanukkah, Santa Claus and other holiday symbols on Christmas, and hearts on Valentine's Day. Chocolate is also used in cold and hot beverages, to produce chocolate milk and hot chocolate.

Paralysed limbs can be heal by just a single brain cell

Recently, there was a research shows that a single brain cell can heal paralysed limb which is a good news for those who are suffering paralysis known as lock-in syndrome, which can't responds to the commands by the brain.
While the brain activity that would normally move automatic is still present, the instructions can't reach the muscles. The experiment had been done on monkeys, the scientist connect an electrodes to individual neurons inside the motor cortex in monkey's brain and record the electrical activity. These signals were then routed in real-time to a computer, and from there through a stimulator to another set of electrodes attached directly to wrist muscles that had been artificially blocked further up the arm along the normal neural pathway.Because little processing power is needed, the computer is the size of a cell phone, and can be attached to the animal's body. The monkey had already mastered a simple video game, grasping targets shown on a video screen with a control device manipulated by a single hand.It stated that that is the first study shows that neuron can control a muscle. This techniques can be tested on humans.

Tiny brain cells

PARIS (AFP) - - One tiny brain cell is all it takes to restore voluntary movement of paralysed muscles, scientists in the United States reported.

In experiments pointing to new treatments for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury or stroke, monkeys learned within minutes to harness the power of a single neuron to activate muscles immobilised by drugs.

There are some 100 billion neurons in the human brain, and the study suggests an unsuspected degree of flexibility in the kinds of tasks they can perform.

"Nearly every neuron we tested could be used to control this type of stimulation," Chet Moritz, lead author and a researcher at the University of Washington, told journalists in a conference call Wednesday

If a monkey can do it, a human should be able to do it even better, he said.

Clinical trials, however, are at least several years away, perhaps longer, Moritz added.

Spinal cord injuries cripple hundreds of thousands of people worldwide every year, rendering the simplest of actions -- opening a door, scratching an itch, drinking a glass of water -- frustratingly difficult, or simply impossible.

Those afflicted with the most severe form of paralysis, known as lock-in syndrome, are fully conscious prisoners inside a body that no longer responds to commands.

While the brain activity that would normally result in a voluntary movement is still present, the instructions simply don't reach the muscles.

Moritz and two colleagues at the University of Washington found a way to bypass the kind of nerve damage that can result in such paralysis.

They first connected electrodes to individual neurons inside the motor cortex of monkey's brain and recorded the electrical activity.

These signals were then routed in real-time to a computer, and from there through a stimulator to another set of electrodes attached directly to wrist muscles that had been artificially blocked further up the arm along the normal neural pathway.

Because little processing power is needed, the computer is the size of a cell phone, and can be attached to the animal's body.

Future versions will be wireless and small enough to implant directly in the body, the researchers said.

The monkey had already mastered a simple video game, grasping targets shown on a video screen with a control device manipulated by a single hand.

"But once he was paralysed, the only way to move his wrist was to change the activity of individual neurons in his brain," Moritz explained.

On average it took about 10 minutes for the monkeys to "train" the neuron well enough to play the video game again.

"The brain can very rapidly learn to control new cells and use them to generate movements," said co-author Eberhard Fetz.

Earlier experiments enabling monkeys to manipulate prosthetic devices or computer cursors using only electrical impulses coming from the brain were based on a fundamentally different premise, according to the new study.

"They tried to read the mind of the money and figure out what he was planning to do," a technique that required massive computing power, said Moritz.

"Our approach is to recreate the raw connectivity between single neurons in the brain and muscles, and let the monkey's nervous system learn how to use that connectivity."

This is also the first study to show that a one neuron can control a muscle -- and possibly a whole group of muscles.

Electrodes connected to a single location in the spinal cord below an injury may be able to activate 10 or 15 muscles that are already precisely balanced for, say, grasping a coffee mug or walking, the researchers said.

And if a stroke has damaged the motor cortex, patients might be able to commandeer other brain cells that do not usually play a role in controlling muscles.

Several obstacles remain, however, before this new technique can be tested in humans, he said.

To avoid infections, the system would have to become fully implantable so that no wires passed through the skin. And electrodes would need to be made more stable so that they could record the activity of neurons over a period of years, rather than weeks.

Brush your teeth!!!

I felt quite weird when I first read these article. This is something new because I never heard that if we don't brush our teeth,it could lead to heart disease.I don't even know that there is connection between teeth and heart disease. So,these article is really good information for us to know.
It is really important for us to brush our teeth so that there will be no bacteria multiplyng inside our mouth.Scientist had done some research and it is proven that mouth is the dirtiest place in our body,so it is necessary to makesure our mouth is clean after we eat.It stated that, even if we are fit and have a healthy lifestyle, but if we have a bad mouth,we still might get heart disease.
If you have a bleeding gum,the bacteria might get in to the blood and stick to the platelet. Then, the blood stream will get slower and cause disease to the heart.Never thought how serious it is huh?
So,makesure to follow your mum's order when they ask you to brush your teeth before sleeping,it has always been a good thing to follow anything that pop out from their mouth because we have to admit that they always been right, hehe, actually I was talking about my mom when I was a kid.
So,makesure you have a clean teeth to prevent heart disease.

Brush teeth to avoid heart disease

How to avoid heart disease: brush your teeth, say scientists by Marlowe Hood
Wed Sep 10, 7:16 PM

PARIS (AFP) - Here's another reason to brush your teeth: poor dental hygiene boosts the risk of heart attacks and strokes, a pair of studies reported this week.

Heart disease is the number one killer worldwide, claiming upward of 17 million lives every year, according to the World Health Organization.

Smoking, obesity and high cholesterol are the most common culprits, but the new research shows that neglected gums can be added to the list.

"We now recognize that bacterial infections are an independent risk factor for heart diseases," said Howard Jenkins of the University of Bristol in Britain, at a meeting of the Society for General Microbiology in Dublin.

"In other words, it doesn't matter how fit, slim or healthy you are, you're adding to your chances of getting heart disease by having bad teeth," the professor said.

There are up to 700 different bacteria in the human mouth, and failing to scrub one's pearly whites helps those germs to flourish.

Most are benign, and some are essential to good health. But a few can trigger a biological cascade leading to diseases of the arteries linked to heart attacks and stroke, according to the new research.

"The mouth is probably the dirtiest place in the human body," Steve Kerrigan of the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin said.

"If you have an open blood vessel from bleeding gums, bacteria will gain entry to your bloodstream."

Once inside the blood, certain bacteria stick onto cells called platelets, causing them to clot inside the vessel and thus decreasing blood flow to the heart.

"We mimicked the pressure inside the blood vessels and in the heart, and demonstrated that bacteria use different mechanisms to cause platelets to clump together, allowing them to completely encase the bacteria," he said.

This not only created conditions that can provoke heart attacks and strokes, it also shielded the bacteria from both, immune system cells and antibiotics.

"These findings suggest why antibiotics do not always work in the treatment of infectious heart disease," Jenkins said.

In separate research, a team led by Greg Seymour of the University of Otago Dunedin in New Zealand showed how other bacteria from the mouth can provoke atherosclerosis, a disease that causes hardening of the arteries.

All organisms -- including humans and bacteria -- produce "stress proteins," molecules produced by conditions such as inflammation, toxins, starvation, or oxygen deprivation.

One function of stress proteins is to guide other proteins across cell membranes.

But they can also can latch onto foreign objects, called antigens, and deliver then to immune cells, provoking an immune reactions in the body.

Normally, the body does not attack its own stress proteins.

But bacterial stress proteins -- which are similar -- do trigger a response, and once that has happened the immune system can no longer differentiate between the two, said Seymour.

"White blood cells can build up in the tissue of arteries, causing atherosclerosis," he explained in a phone interview.

My Zodiac~Taurus~

As a muslim we shouldn't believe in this thing. But then,I find it as something interesting to talk about,so just consider it as just an article,we don't have to believe in it.
Each and everyone of us has our own zodiac, and my zodiac is Taurus. It is symbolized as bull. The birth dates is between April 20-May 20.Every zodiac has it own planet that rules them, and for Taurus will be Venus which also rules Libra. It also has a myth which is from Greek and it has few goddesses connected with it.Usually the head and horns represents the astrological symbol.
The astrologers had done research for every zodiac which can characterised someone who born in that month.
There are few things that I think characterised me and some are not, such as,I'm a relax and laid-back person and I work hard for something that I like,I am a patient person and can be trusted, but I don't think I'm artistic person and I'm not resentful.
It is also believed that Taurus is compatibles to Pisces,Virgo,Capricon and Cancer.
So,non-muslim such as Chinese and Indian do believe in zodiacs and they have their own types of astrology.

Taurus ~Astrology~

Birth Dates (Sidereal) May 15 - June 16
Constellation Taurus
Zodiac Element Earth
Zodiac Quality Fixed

Pluto(modern)[2]
Exaltation Moon[2]
Fall Uranus

Taurus is the second astrological sign in the Zodiac, originating from the constellation of Taurus. In western astrology, this sign is no longer aligned with the constellation as a result of the precession of the equinoxes. In astrology, Taurus is considered a "feminine", negative sign. It is also considered an earth sign and is one of four fixed signs.[3] Taurus is ruled by the planet Venus (which also rules Libra). Being the second sign of the zodiac, Taurus has been associated with the astrological second house. The glyph is also the alchemical symbol for rocksalt.
Individuals born when the Sun was in this sign are considered Taurus individuals. Under the tropical zodiac, the Sun is in Taurus roughly from April 20 to May 20.[1] Under the sidereal zodiac, it is currently there roughly from May 15 to June 15.[5] People born on these juncture dates should have an astrological chart drawn to determine which sign the sun was in at the exact time of their birth.

In mythology Taurus is often associated with the Greek myth of the bull-form taken by Zeus in order to win Europa. Taurus is also associated with the Greco-Roman goddess Aphrodite/Venus and sometimes also the goddesses Hera/Juno, Ishtar, Isis, Freyja, and Frigg and the gods Pan, Dionysus/Bacchus, Xolotl, and Quetzalcoatl.[citation needed] The astrological symbol for Taurus represents the head and horns of the bull.
Astrologers assign personality traits to the signs. The following are traits more widely associated with Taurus. Note that no scientific research thusfar has been able to prove such correlation. Many astrologers consider planetary aspects to hold a key influence[6] which may override sign location and thus conceding many exceptions.

Many astrologers believe that each of the zodiac signs has identifiable physical traits. Individuals born under the sign of Taurus will tend to have full, often long faces, square jaws, small ears, a fairly large and dimpled chin, sometimes prominent foreheads, a short or pointy and turned-up nose, large and expressive eyes, opaque, light skin, full and well-shaped lips, small and even teeth, and thick. Many astrologers believe Taurus to be very good looking individuals.[12] They are thought by some to usually be above average height and the women often possess a voluptuous figure,[13] a swan neck[14] and Grecian nose.
Compatibilities
Although many mainstream astrology books do not bother with superficial sun-sign compatibilities, Taurus is widely thought to be compatible with the earthy signs, Capricorn.[15][16] and Virgo [15][16] and Taurus is also considered to be good with Cancer[16][17], Pisces.[16][18] and Taurus itself.[16][19] Its relationship with Scorpio is often considered powerful and passionate, but rather complicated.[20][16]
There are many variables that determine compatibility in astrology, such as birth dates, birth months, birth years, position of a sign within the Sun, the Moon, Stars, etc. The signs listed as compatible with Taurus do not reflect an individual profile or individual reading as interpreted within astrology, but rather reflect a general guideline and reference to compatibility as dictated by variables such as Qualities and Elements within the Zodiac.[15] Professional astrologers rarely boil compatibility down to just the sun-sign. The branch in astrology dealing with interpersonal compatibilities is called Synastry.[21]

The Best and Worst Presenter-Entry 1

I would say the microsoft dude is the worst presenter compared to another five presenter. From the video clip,we can see that he did not even moved from where he stood, and the worst of all, he did not even look at the audience, his eyes kept locked on the floor. His speech was not clear and it seems like he's murmuring to himself and sometimes he stutter while presenting.
The best presenter will be Randy Pausch,he had appeared at the The Oprah Winfrey Show which is one of the most famous talk show in the world where he talks about life and his situation on having a serius pancreatic cancer.I think he is the best presenter because eventhough he's going to die soon,he looks so relax and mention about his time left to live for many times,we can see all the audience were crying but he remain calm and can even attracted the audience by doing pumping to show that he is physically strong.Besides,he used slides and put some pictures to draw people's attention.Futhermore,he speaks loud and clear and not just murmuring like the microsoft dude did.He looks very confident and does not stutter even a bit. So,we should be confident while presenting and do something interesting to attract audience attention.Make sure we know what we are going to say so that we will not stutter and our voice must be clear.

Oprah Winfrey-The Philanthropist (Entry 2)

The famous person that I have chosen for my oral presentation would be Oprah Winfrey. She is an American television host,a media mogul and a philanthropist. The things that really made my eyes open is that she is very generous in helping people and that is why they call her the philanthropist. She had done lots of charity and donations to those in need such as she had started her Oprah's Angels Network since 1998 ,a charity made to encourage people around the world to help others. These charity had raised more than $51,000,000 in US dollars and donated the money to any charity program.Oprah's Angel Network had also donated $11 million dollar to Katrina Hurricane and she also personally given $10 million dollars to the cause.Besides that, she had invested $40 million dollars to built Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa and the main purpose is to help the poor African girls to get an education.
I really astonished by her self-confident to speak for the right in front of lots of people in her talk show.I am also amazed that her talk show had attracted people from all over the world and their problem can be shared during the talk show by sending her an e-mail,that is how she help people through her talk show.Futhermore,it is amazing that her childhood life does not effect her on what she became now,a very successful and wealthiest African-American woman in the world.Lastly, her kindness and generosity had given an impact to me to become a better person.
